The Spirit Behind The Name
The forgotten opera houses dotting New York’s Hudson Valley rivertowns were indispensable venues for art and culture in the 19th and early-20th centuries. These beacons of luxury and enchantment were the heart and soul of a community.
Based in the Hudson Valley and New York City, we partner with clients nationwide through full-service design and thoughtful consulting.
Grounded in modern living and inspired by architectural and historic detail, we create unexpected spaces—shaped by the life lived within them. Each project unfolds as an immersive, fully realized environment—where narrative, atmosphere, and detail come together to create a complete sensory experience. We embrace constraints as creative opportunity, work across a range of budgets, and leave room for a quiet sense of wit.
Whitney Parshall
Founder & Principal Designer

Whitney is a multidisciplinary creative with a background spanning interior design and television production. Prior to launching her own studio, she worked as an interior stylist for Anthropologie’s Anthro Living, and earlier in her career produced for television networks including the History Channel and Food Network. Her experience in television shaped a deep understanding of storytelling—an approach that now defines her work. Whitney brings a narrative-driven lens to both residential and commercial design, creating spaces that feel layered, intentional, and distinctly personal.
Mala Mastroberte
Designer & Project Consultant

Mala brings over a decade of experience in smart home technology, where she developed a deep understanding of how thoughtful systems can enhance the way we live. Her passion for architecture and interior design began in childhood and has continued to shape both her personal and professional path. Deeply inspired by historic homes and the stories they carry, she is currently restoring her fourth historic property with care and intention. She is especially drawn to the balance between old and new, seamlessly integrating modern technology into spaces rich with character. Her approach celebrates the charm of the past while designing for the rhythms of contemporary life.
